Montessori Approach - Homeschool Reality
Many homeschool parents are attracted to the Montessori philosophy but are quickly intimidated by the potential cost of materials, scope of teacher training, and amount of materials “necessary” for this style of learning. I don’t know about you, but when I was homeschooling, we were a single-income family living in a 1,400 square foot house. I couldn’t spend thousands of dollars for single-use materials and dedicate an entire room in the house for the “perfect” environment - no matter how much I might have wanted to!
I am an experienced homeschool parent and Primary Montessori classroom teacher. My goal at Follow the Child Homeschool is to empower parents to confidently use traditional Montessori materials to teach their children in a homeschool setting. This means weeding out the materials that are redundant to save you money, space, and time, teaching you how to use traditional Montessori materials that can often be confusing without training, and explaining why’s and how’s of skill sequencing for a solid academic foundation for your child.

Thinking outside of the box is not the same as lacking structure or form. Your home is your classroom - but you define what it looks like, feels like, and how it functions.
